Family Read Facilitator - Connecticut Humanities Council

Family Read Facilitator - The Connecticut Humanities Council is seeking facilitators for its Family Read program in the Greater Hartford region. Family Read, using the Motheread® curriculum, is a book discussion program for adults using children's literature. The adult program participant spends some time interpreting text, engaging in answering open-ended questions about the text used each week, practicing reading the text aloud, and ends with connecting the theme in the children's text to a piece of adult literature. The adult then has the tools he/she needs to bring the text to life with a child at home. Top qualifications: Must have flexible time. Must have a B.A., preferably in a Humanities discipline. We'd love to talk with people of color and Spanish speakers. A training is scheduled for December 3-5, 2008 in Hartford. The training goes from 9-4 on those three days; people who are selected to attend the training must attend all three days in order to become certified facilitators. If you are interested, or if you know of anyone who might fit the bill, please pass the word along. Deadline for application to attend the training is November 14, 2008.
