Library Technician III, Part-Time - University of Bridgeport
Library Technician III, Part-Time - University of Bridgeport. The Librarian Technician works under the direction of a designated Librarian Supervisor to perform support duties across multiple functions, including interlibrary loan, circulation, technical processing, serials, instructional, shelf maintenance, etc. Responsible for learning new policies and procedures as Library shifts to electronic handling of materials. Must possess good customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills in dealing with patrons and other coworkers. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist patrons via email, phone and online (including students, faculty, and staff) in use of Library resources and services. Process print and electronic materials using appropriate software systems and tools. Generates reports for management as needed Helps develop policies under direction of Supervisor. Utilizes all relevant functions in Voyager system. Maintains holding information Affixes labels and anti-theft strips. Photocopies / scans / prints documentation as required. Shelves and straightens materials. Performs basic repair functions. Participates in bindery and microfilming preparation as needed. Handles patron requests for interlibrary loan, document delivery, and instructional sessions. Troubleshoots basic technology and research questions from patrons. Coordinates activities of student workers. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications: High School diploma and 2 years appropriate experience in library. Excellent keyboarding skills; demonstrated mastery of Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred. Demonstrated mastery of basic computer operations, including Internet navigation skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision with attention to detail; produces high quality, correct work. Demonstrated ability to work in teams, flexible and able to acquire new skills. Must be able to lift 30 pounds Strong service orientation. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled.
