Librarian, Science & Technology Editor - Opening anticipated in the fall of 2007 for a contract editor to manage the science and technology sections of CHOICE Magazine, a leading academic review journal and online publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries, a division of the American Library Association. Duties include monitoring appropriate sources to identify new print and electronic publications; selecting and assigning publications for review; managing a reviewer pool in assigned subject areas; editing reviews and essays in an online environment; working on special features and projects. Requirements: ALA accredited MLS. Preferred: academic library experience, particularly in collection development or user services; educational background/work experience in the biological or physical sciences; strong editorial, organizational, and computer skills; the ability to work collegially in a team oriented environment and meet deadlines. This position is based in the CHOICE office in Middletown, CT, and reports to the editorial director. Flexible schedule, approximately 26 hours per week; possibility of becoming a full-time, permanent position. $28.00/hour, negotiable depending on qualifications.
