Branch Librarian - Fairfield Public Library

Branch Librarian - Experienced library manager sought for one of the busiest branch libraries in Connecticut. Manage daily operations of branch library including: coordinate the operations of Circulation, Reference, Children's and new Teen programs; supervise, train and mentor staff of 2 professionals, 6 paraprofessionals and 37 part-time staff; develop and market collections and participate in selection meetings; monitor and work within an assigned budget; identify and execute programming suitable for this neighborhood library; and manage general branch related facility issues. The Branch Librarian reports to the Library Director and is expected to apply the policies, procedures and practices of the system and the town. Minimum qualifications: MLS with 3 years of department head/managerial experience supervising and motivating professional staff; strong commitment to public service and customer service; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiasm, energy and the ability to relate well to the public and staff; demonstrated record of project management; ability to work independently and effectively as a member of senior management team; analytical skills to measure library and staff performance; demonstrated record of using creative methods to enhance library staffing, collections and services. Direct experience with a building project renovation/addition/complete build a plus. Salary range of $68,846 - $87,135 with excellent benefits package including pension plan.
