Branch Assistant, Library Support Staff II - Barney Library, Farmington

Branch Assistant, Library Support Staff II - (Reference/Reader's Advisor, Programmer, Branch Circulation) The Branch Assistant, Library Support Staff II, is responsible for reference and reader's advisory work, interlibrary loan, circulation duties, and staff supervision. The Branch Assistant is in charge of the branch in the absence of the Branch Librarian. Duties include publication of PR materials, creating displays, keeping statistics and reporting those statistics in a timely manner, collection development and maintenance, catalog updates, overseeing The Homebound Program, assisting the public using the OPAC, on-line databases and the internet, as well as teaching computer classes. Some program planning, presentation and outreach will be assigned for a variety of age groups. Supervision and management responsibilities at the Branch are a part of this position. Evening and weekend hours in rotation are required. Similar assignments at the Main Library may also be expected. The Support Staff II position reports to the Branch Librarian. Beginning date: August 14, 2006. Starting Salary: $36,800, Step 1. Full time, 35 hour week. Town benefits and Social Security.
