Technology and Social Media Librarian -
Mark Twain Library,
Redding, CT This is a re-designed part-time position for a
technologically-proficient, innovative, and service-oriented librarian
to plan, develop, maintain, and enhance library technology services for
the Mark Twain Library. This position will also oversee the library’s
social media growth and be part of developing a new website at a
historic and community minded public library. Duties: Manage, maintain,
troubleshoot, and update library computer and network systems,
equipment, and software, for staff and the public, at the main library.
Work with the director to create and implement a long-term technology
plan, and research and advise on immediate and near-term technology
projects as they arise. Coordinate with consortium Bibliomation staff,
and other contract vendors to support all library technology and
systems. Working with professional website developer, help to implement
a new Library website. Provide instruction to patrons and staff
regarding technology and digital media, Qualifications: Demonstrated
ability to maintain, install, troubleshoot, and upgrade hardware and
software. Understanding of networking (LAN and wireless), Demonstrated
knowledge of library technology applications including web applications,
and social media platforms. Ability to manage multiple detailed tasks
through frequent interruptions, resolve conflicts with diplomacy, adapt
to change, and work independently and collaboratively. Experience: MLS
degree from an accredited graduate library school or demonstrated
related applicable experience. Experience with integrated library
systems. Technical proficiency needed with social media applications,
electronic mailing lists, OPACs, and web design and development
including HTML. Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment
to public library service Salary – $42,250 for a 30 hour week position.
There is no health or retirement related benefits associated with this
position. 60 hours of vacation and paid holiday days are granted after
