Library Technical Assistant; Clerk - Hamden Public Library

Hamden Public Library is a busy urban/suburban "destination" library, and this is the fifth year of our popular Sunday hours. We still have a couple of part-time, as-needed Sunday positions per week from 12:30 or 1:00 to 5:00 PM, from mid-September 2006 through early May 2007. These positions are at our busy Circulation Desk, where we use the Dynix Horizon system. We strongly prefer those with Dynix Horizon Circulation experience, but we will certainly consider others with extensive and varied library circulation experience using another system. We can hire Circulation Staff using the following guidelines:

  • Library Technical Assistant - 2 years library experience, para-professional reference and circulation: $14.18 per hour.

  • Clerk - 6 months library experience. $12.19 per hour.


When the current Union contract is settled, these wages may increase. No benefits other than working with dedicated, experienced colleagues, interesting and grateful patrons, and our abundant appreciation; parking is easy and plentiful. A total of three people are scheduled to work at the Circulation desk each Sunday we are open, and there are 3-4 reference/children's staff also scheduled. All Sunday staff must attend one, 3 hour, paid orientation session. Interested?
