Librarian I – Public Services, Town of Groton
Reports To: Assistant Director
Starting rate: $32.59/hour (Contract currently in negotiation)
Position Range: $32.59 - $37.44/hour
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program, is required. Excellent customer service and clear, effective communication skills are essential. Experience developing and delivering programs is preferred, and familiarity with children’s story times is a plus. Bilingual skills are highly desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Librarian I is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating all activities associated with Youth Services, which serves patrons from birth through twelfth grade. This position is responsible for designing and implementing engaging, age-appropriate programming for this audience. Public service desk experience, including demonstrated digital literacy, and technological proficiency, for all ages, is preferred. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is essential. Evening and weekend hours are required.
