Derby Neck Library is seeking a proactive, creative, and friendly Teen Services Assistant to join its team serving tweens as young as 10 and teens as old as 19.

2) Set boundaries and expectations for acceptable behavior in our busy Teen Space
3) Maintain composure while working with even the most challenging patrons
The library’s current teen population enjoys crafts, gaming, and socializing in our Teen Space. Derby Neck Library welcomes candidates who bring their own unique interests and perspectives to help support this population in learning critical social skills, meeting their technological needs, and preparing for the adult world.
This position requires substantial patron interaction, including desk coverage, readers’ advisory, and program facilitation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as familiarity with current and emerging technologies and trends. Candidates with a demonstrated history of teen program facilitation and event development are strongly encouraged to apply. Must have experience with Microsoft Office, email, and basic computer usage. Experience with social media, gaming software and systems, or crafting (especially sewing) is highly desirable.
Hours: Part-time 20-24 hours per week, including evenings until 8:00pm and alternating Saturdays. If you cannot accommodate this schedule, please do not apply.
Compensation: Hourly rate of $17.50/hr; simple IRA retirement plan with employer-matching contributions up to 3% after 1 year of employment; sick and personal PTO; and tuition reimbursement.
