Derby Neck Library is seeking an energetic, creative, and highly motivated Adult Services Assistant to join its team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for developing and supporting engaging programs for adult patrons, collaborating with a dynamic team of librarians across departments, and providing excellent customer service. The library's current adult programming focuses on a diverse range of topics, including history (local, global, culinary, etc.), true crime and mysteries, DIY/crafting, and film and media production. Derby Neck Library welcomes candidates who bring their own unique interests and perspectives to help meet the diverse needs of its vibrant community of learners, makers, and doers.
This position requires substantial patron interaction, including circulation desk coverage and readers’ advisory. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Candidates with a demonstrated history of program and event development and promotion are strongly encouraged to apply. Must have experience with Microsoft Office, email, and basic computer usage. Experience with social media, newsletters, survey development, digital content creation, and graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Illustrator) is highly desirable.Hours: Part-time 22-26 hours per week including evenings and alternating Saturdays
Compensation: Hourly rate of $17.50/hr; simple IRA retirement plan with employer-matching contributions up to 3% after 1 year of employment; sick and personal PTO; and tuition reimbursement.
