Business Manager - James Blackstone Memorial Library

Search re-opened: Are you a finance professional who wants to be part of a supportive team whose work makes a positive impact on our community? The James Blackstone Memorial Library is looking for you! We have an immediate opening for a dedicated and experienced professional to oversee all aspects of financial management for the library, which has an annual budget of approximately $2 million. The successful candidate will be able to apply a wide range of skills in the areas of accounting, budgeting, and human resources, including administering payroll and employee benefits. This position reports to the Library Director and is part of the leadership team at the library, helping ensure that all functional areas required to operate the library are always covered.

Since 1896, the Blackstone Library has been dedicated to serving its diverse and dynamic shoreline community of Branford, CT, and we continue that legacy today, supporting free and open access to information and lifelong learning. The library is an architectural gem and a beloved community hub for the town.

Education and skills: A Bachelor’s Degree in finance or accounting is required. Minimum of two years’ accounting experience, preferably at a library or nonprofit organization. This position demands accuracy and the ability to multi-task. Experience in accounting procedures and related software is needed, including QuickBooks and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of human resources, benefit plans, insurance and budgeting is strongly recommended.

Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time, exempt position with a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, and paid time off. Salary begins at $75,000 per year, depending on experience.
