The Meriden Public Library is seeking friendly, engaging customer service oriented per diem librarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will enjoy connecting with the public, engaging people of all ages, and have an interest in serving a wide variety of needs at the children's, teen and adult service desks. Duties involve working directly with the public in a variety of ways including providing reference, readers advisory and technology support, answering the phone, provide assistance with library programs and assisting the public in the use of library resources. Excellent customer service and technology skills required. Will work under the direction of a full time experienced Teen Librarian.
Hours will vary based on need and primarily include evening hours and Saturdays throughout the year, approximately 3.5 – 15 hours per week. A Masters of Library Science Degree from an accredited college or university, or a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university supplemented by graduate level courses which will lead to the Master of Library Science Degree within two years of employment.
