The Town of Mansfield is hiring a full-time Youth Services Librarian at the main location of the Mansfield Public Library. The Youth Services Librarian will be responsible for the daily operations of the youth services department in collaboration with their supervisor. They will play a vital part in fostering a love for reading and learning among children, tweens, and teens, creating engaging programs, and maintaining an inviting atmosphere in our library. They will develop and implement programs and events, both in the library and at outreach events, for children, teens and families. This position will also help with managing collections and collaborating with educators and families to enhance literacy and information skills among young patrons.
Total Compensation: The salary range is $69,005.79 -$89,687.43. The hiring rate of pay will depend upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. This position is full-time with benefits.
Work Schedule & Location: The selected candidate will be scheduled for 35 hours per week, with a four day work week. The selected candidate will normally work four consecutive days, Monday-Thursdays (on the weeks in which their Saturday rotation falls, another weekday off will be given.) The work location is the Mansfield Public Library, 54 Warrenville Road, Mansfield Center, CT 06250. This position requires a varied work schedule including evenings and Saturdays.
Education and Experience: Graduation from an ALA accredited university with a Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science and any other experience and training working in a public library setting or other public service setting that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above. Must possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
