BASIC FUNCTION: Assists in the initial processing of physical materials through the creation of indexes and inventories; supports digitization projects through the scanning of artifacts, renaming and/or reformatting of files, and creation of metadata spreadsheets for batch uploads; manages the workflow for the ingest of digitized and born-digital materials into the library’s institutional repository DigitalCommons@Fairfield. Assists the Archives staff with daily activities, exhibits, and special projects. Supervises student employees.
SCHEDULE: 10-15 hours per week. Requires some evening and weekend hours.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE: Two years previous library or related experience. Familiarity with computer systems required. Attention to detail and accuracy important. Written and oral communication skills a plus. Ability to work independently or in a team; knows when to ask questions. Proficient in handling multiple workflows and projects. Experience with digital asset management systems and data entry and/or metadata creation preferred.
