Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children age three to grade eight, currently seeks to fill the Director of Library Services position during a parental leave – December 2023 through June 2024.
Renbrook’s library is staffed by a single professional who possesses a wide range of interpersonal, administrative, technical, and leadership skills to successfully lead Renbrook’s library program for students in grades preschool through eighth. We are looking for a librarian to fill a parental leave position from mid-December through early June. The role is broken down in three distinct categories: media specialist administrator, information specialist, and instructional liaison. An important responsibility in this area of the job is the ability to create an atmosphere within the library that encourages people to come in and utilize both the resources and the space. Renbrook’s library should be a vibrant hub of activity for students and faculty throughout the day.

Qualifications: Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree in library science or related field. Teaching experience. Experience in classroom management and pedagogy to meet the needs of all learners. Knowledge of children’s literature. Technical skill including experience with databases and web-based research.
