Bridgeport Public Library is now accepting submissions for the position of Librarian I – Part Time. The successful candidate will coordinate communications and media activities to plan and promote library programs and services. This position reports to the City Librarian, and is responsible for supporting all public event efforts within the library and generating content to be disseminated externally through traditional media and social networks.
Typical duties will include planning communications events, assisting with special events in the library, composing media advisories and news releases, disseminating such content to the news media, and assisting the Assistant City Librarian in oversight of library website. Minimum qualifications include an MLS degree and one-year similar experience in a library setting. Excellent technical writing and oral communications skills. Written fluency in Spanish is desirable. Working knowledge of print and broadcast media as it pertains to public library promotion. Solid grasp of content and technical requirements for optimal use of social media; familiarity with multiple social media platforms. Skills with Microsoft Office programs, including Photoshop.
