Manager, Collection Curation & Materials Management - The Westport Library

The Manager of Collection Curation & Materials Management demonstrates the leadership, and collaboration skills necessary to ensure that the Library’s collection is meeting the communities, listening, viewing, and reading needs and interests and that patrons have timely access to library materials.

Primary responsibilities include managing the selection and turnover of the adult collection and overseeing the ordering and receiving of all materials. The Manager oversees Interlibrary Loan Services and Cataloging, evaluates the collection using ILS (Polaris) and Collection HQ, works collaboratively to develop outreach services to the community and ensures the collection is being well-marketed. The Manager, Collection Curation & Materials Management also manages the relationship with vendors and suppliers and staffs the reference desk for 10 hours per week.

Required Education/Experience: MLS/MLIS required. Experience with current practices related to the management of, and access to, print and digital collections. Collection management experience in a public library preferred. Strong Reader’s Advisory skills a plus. Familiarity with publishers and trends in publishing. Analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Ability to express oneself clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders. Service-oriented and committed to providing exceptional service to our patrons, staff, and community. Possesses strong process management skills. Knowledge of acquisitions and technical services in public libraries. Ability to work independently, set goals and drive results. Experience running book discussion groups and other programs. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, OCLC and other public library databases. Strong customer service skills.
