Circulation Coordinator - The Westport Library

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive professional dedicated to excellent customer service to support a leading 5 Star Library to achieve its strategic patron service goals. The Coordinator supports the Patron Services Manager and performs all patron services duties including answering patrons account questions, both face to face and over the phone, and assists with resolving their concerns; manages cash and credit cards at circulation service points in accordance with library policies and procedures; provides readers’ advisory support; assists Materials Management Department in processing and deaccessioning library materials and in coordination with Manager, Reference Dept, and Materials Management, identifies areas for improvements with the accessibility of collections and identifies display opportunities. In addition, the Coordinator prepares & distributes weekly Adult Shelvers’ schedules, ensures adequate coverage, and supports manager to ensure Adult Shelvers are well trained.

Required Education/Experience: Ability to serve the public with friendliness, tact, and diplomacy. Ability to problem solve and analyze as related to the position. Excellent verbal communications skills. Highly flexible, patient. At least 3 years in a busy library circulation department or equivalent extensive customer service experience. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed including weekends and evenings. Avid reader and/or movie buff. Comfortable with technology. Ability to describe books and other library materials in a manner that engages the customer. BA preferred.
