A Department Head at Darien Library is a team leader who manages, guides, and trains staff within their department. They consistently demonstrate kindness and compassion while holding their direct reports responsible for maintaining the standards of their department and the Library.
The Head of Reader Services is a forward-thinking, community-minded, customer service advocate who embodies Darien’s “kindness first” customer service model. They oversee the work of the Welcome Desk, the busiest desk in the Library and the first point of contact for patrons when they come into the building. Their team, consisting of 3 full-time staff and 8 part-time staff, are responsible for purchasing, merchandising, and weeding the Library’s print and digital fiction collections.
