Library Associate (Temporary, Per Diem) - Arnold Bernhard Library, Quinnipiac University, CT

Overview: Quinnipiac University's Arnold Bernhard Library seeks applications for a temporary, per diem Library Associate. Reporting to the Associate Director for Collections and Management, this temporary, per diem position will assist library patrons at the Reference and Access Services desks, provide basic reference help and referrals to other staff as appropriate. In addition, they will assist in various projects in archives, digitization, marketing, and collection management. This position is ideal for an information or library science graduate student or recent graduate who wishes to gain experience in a variety of academic library work. Position is 15 to 16 hours per week during the academic semester, 3 to 4 days a week with some flexibility in setting a schedule. The rate for this position is $22.00-24.00/hour, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities: Responds to library and research questions via email, Zoom, and in person. Refers in-depth questions as appropriate. Supports archival description and digitization projects. Staffs Access Services and Reference Desks as needed. Aids in creative ways to promote the library’s collections and services. Provides marketing support writing posts on social media and for the library newsletter.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Experience may substitute for some of the above education requirements.

Qualifications: 1-2 years of customer service or library experience. Strong customer service orientation. Desire to learn, adapt quickly, and work independently. Desire to work in an academic library and support a diverse population. Attention to detail. Experience with digitization equipment for a variety of formats (print, photographic, video and audio) preferred. Knowledge of metadata standards for archival and image collections. Able to work some nights and weekends. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
