Essex Library Association is seeking an energetic and engaging Children and Teen Library Services Assistant.
The Essex Library has been a vital community institution since 1889.
Library staff delivers comprehensive services and high-quality
programming for all age groups. The library serves a close knit and
supportive community of more than 6,600 residents, hosting more than
53,000 visits a year. We maintain a physical collection of more than
43,000 items in a welcoming and vibrant 9,550 square foot facility which
houses dedicated children’s and teen spaces. The library is a member of
the LION consortium.
The Children and Teen Library Services
Assistant is responsible for activities pertaining to services including
circulation, collections, and programs assigned by the Children’s and
Teen Librarian. This position also provides circulation desk services to
all patrons.
We seek a friendly, organized, and motivated
individual. Prior experience working successfully with children and
teens in a work or school setting is preferred.
We offer a work
schedule of 6 hours per week every Saturday at the rate of $14/hr,
starting in September. This position’s benefits include 3 days of paid
personal time after a probationary period, plus paid holidays when the
holiday falls on a workday.
