Job Summary: Killingworth Library Association
is seeking a part-time librarian to lead our Child and Youth Services
programs. Under the direction of the Library Director, the Youth
Services Librarian will develop and implement programs and outreach
efforts for youth aged 0 – 17. This will include occasional work with
outside program providers. Our ideal candidate is a team player
passionate about providing outstanding service and will possess a strong
commitment to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all of our
patrons under the age of 18. They will be equally comfortable
personally conducting toddler programs or teen book discussions and are
experienced with STEM/STEAM concepts and their application in a library
environment. We are a small community library, and strong collection
management and parent advisory skills are needed to ensure that the
collection is balanced and that we are meeting the needs of our young
patrons of all ages. Strong personal computer skills are also required
in order to assist at the circulation desk (Bibliomation’s Evergreen
ILS) and to help our patrons in using the public technology available
(Example: showing patrons how to access BookFlix, or download e-books
and e-audio books to their phone). Experience in conducting STEM
programs a plus, willingness to learn essential. Experience with both
Microsoft and Apple OS applications preferred with Google docs a plus.
This position is currently scheduled for Tuesdays – Saturdays for 20 -
25 hours per week with some flexibility to accommodate a working parent.
Hours must include one evening until 7 pm, and a minimum of two
Saturdays (8:30 - 1 pm) per month. $22 - $26 hourly depending on
experience. Completion or near completion of a master’s degree in
Library Science from an ALA-accredited program preferred. Email cover
