Children's Services Associate - Fairfield Public Library. Part
time, $20.24 Hourly. Provides excellent information on print and
digital resources in a friendly and engaging manner on a public service
desk for youth, their caregivers, and educators. Successful candidates
will demonstrate the ability to effectively work with multicultural
communities and enjoy connecting with children of all ages.
This
position works under the supervision of a department head. Assist
children, their caregivers and educators with informational questions
and book recommendations in person and over the phone. Troubleshoot
patron’s device questions including use of digital content . Help
patrons navigate Library’s online catalog. Maintain publicity displays,
special book displays, and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
Issue library cards, shelve books, and keep the children’s library neat
as needed. Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with
diverse coworkers, community members, and patrons of all abilities.
Keeps informed and knowledgeable about Library events, programs and
services. Continually strive to bolster readers’ advisory skills by
keeping current with authors, books, genres and reading trends among
patron base.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an
accredited college or university. Previous work with children and
families in an educational environment. Working knowledge of software
such as Microsoft Office suite. Drive and ability to learn new
technologies. Availability to work evenings and weekends.
