Adult Services Librarian - Fairfield Public Library. Part
time, $28.71 hourly. Performs a wide variety of public librarian
functions related to providing reference services on an information
desk. Plays a key role in providing excellent service to patrons
including reference and information services, technology help, and
readers’ advisory.
This position works under the supervision
of a department head or designee. Trouble-shooting patron’s device
questions including use of digital content providers Overdrive/Libby,
hoopla, Freegal and Kanopy. Familiarity with and instruction of
databases available through the Library (Valueline, iConn content,
Reference Solutions, Tutor.com, etc.). Assists patrons with computers,
printers, scanners, copiers and other equipment. Help patrons navigate
Library’s online catalog. Deliver quality reference interactions via
phone and in-person. Keeps informed and knowledgeable about Library
events, programs and services. Also stays informed about trends and
developments in the field of public librarianship. Continually strive to
bolster readers’ advisory skills by keeping current with authors,
books, genres and reading trends among patron base. Provides excellent
customer service to a wide variety of patrons in the community.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in library science from an ALA
accredited college or university. MLS candidates who are near completion
of their degree will be considered. SirsiDynix Symphony experience is
preferred but not required. Proficiency in a wide variety of software
including Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with social media.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
