Substitute Reference Librarian - The
Westport Library is seeking several substitute reference librarians who
will play an important role in helping make our Library a stimulating
place for people of all ages to engage, connect and utilize all the best
resources. He/she will be an expert at teaching patrons and staff
research skills and how to use technology from e-readers to on-line
databases. The successful candidate will be able to deliver quality
reference interactions via phone, email, and in person.
Potential other tasks assigned would be to design and deliver “how-to”
training and innovative offerings, develop content for the web, create
resource guides, and develop collections. Experience with Libguides is a
plus.
The successful candidates will enjoy working side by
side with people in the community to showcase the best assets of each
library patron. The selected candidates will have an MLS degree from an
ALA accredited university; strong readers’ advisory skills; experience
in a library or similar knowledge-based environment; excellent research
skills; and advanced computer skills.
The hours for this
position are variable. The ideal candidates will have a flexible
schedule and will be willing to take hours as needed. Recent graduates
and MLS students in their last semester are encouraged to apply. This
position pays CLA minimum standards.
