Librarian II, Technical Services Librarian - Goodwin University. Job
Location: East Hartford, CT. Position Type: Full Time. Position
Description Summary / Purpose: This position involves the full range of
librarian duties and functions with specialized duties as required by
the position. Assists in providing reference services, collection
maintenance and circulation services.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities: Receives oral or
written directions from the Library Director. Includes all duties of
Librarian I. Maintains reference and circulating collections, and
coordinates activities with faculty to assure currency of materials.
Provides supervision and training to subordinate professional staff,
clerical staff, and student employees. Recommends policy changes to the
Director. Reports achievement of goals to Director. Conducts all work in
a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed. Prepares
regular statistical reports of some complexity for the Director.
Administers technical library collection maintenance. Evaluates,
implements, and supervises online information services for student and
faculty use. Trains faculty and students in use of online products and
promotes awareness of updates and changes. Troubleshoots technical
problems and reports problems to appropriate support staff. Promotes
library online services to university community. Attends workshops or
courses necessary to keep current with digital technology. Maintains
university’s Institutional Repository.
Other Functions: Performs
similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
Continues professional development and training; keeps current with
trends. Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team
effort. May act as a library representative at professional conferences.
Serves as a library liaison to a University school.
Knowledge,
Ability and Skill: Ability to apply principles of library science to
solve practical problems. Ability to prepare and deliver reports of
library services both orally and in writing. Strong computer application
and digital technology skills. Ability to create and implement
outcome-based lesson plans for Information Literacy skills. Ability to
work effectively with other library staff. Ability to understand and use
the library services provided by our integrated library systems.
Knowledge of basic research materials; substantial interpersonal skills;
considerable oral and written communications skills. Considerable
ability to perform research.
Minimum Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science /
Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited college. Minimum
two years of progressively responsible academic library experience.
Expertise using library technology/library systems.
