Unit Head - The
Connecticut State Library (CSL) has one (1) available opportunity for a
State Library Unit Head in the Division of Library Development at the
Middletown Library Service Center. CSL is an Executive Branch agency
founded in 1854. The State Library provides a variety of library,
information, archival, public records, museum, and administrative
services for citizens of Connecticut, as well as for the employees and
officials of all three branches of State government. CSL also serves
students, libraries, researchers, and town governments. The Middletown
Library Service Center provides service to public and other libraries
throughout Connecticut; the Library for the Blind and Physically
Handicapped (LBPH)’s mission is to provide free library services to
Connecticut residents who cannot read standard print due to a visual or
physical disability.
About the Position: The Unit Head -
Middletown Library Service Center/LBPH Director is responsible for
overseeing the operational and facilities management of the Middletown
Library Service Center and the Library for the Blind and Physically
Handicapped. The incumbent works with the Division Director to: develop
partnerships with agencies, organizations, and other groups to enhance
programs and services to libraries and librarians; develop statewide
initiatives; engage with the national state library community; and
pursue grants. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring LBPH
services comply with federal statutes, national standards, and the
agreement with the Library of Congress, National Library Service for the
Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS). The Unit Head will further
develop LBPH by engaging in outreach and marketing of services to a
current patron population of 5000+.
Position Details:
Hours: Full-time position; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
