Library Director - Somers Public Library. The
Library Board of the Somers Public Library is seeking a Library
Director. The Library serves a small, vibrant town. The job of Library
Director is a full-time, on-site position supervising four full time and
five part time employees. The salary range is competitive and
commensurate with experience.
The Library Board is looking for a
dynamic, creative leader with excellent communication and
organizational skills who is passionate about literacy and connecting
with the community. He or she will need to wear many hats.
The
Library Director oversees all adult programming and the adult
collections. Working with the Library Board, the Library Director
creates and maintains the annual budget and any grant monies obtained.
He or she will also work with the Department of Public Works and outside
vendors to maintain the Library building and grounds. The Library
Director must be skilled at communicating with a variety of audiences in
both verbal and written form. The Library Board is looking for someone
who can be an effective representative of the Library within the
community and the Library field and stay in touch with the ways in which
libraries are evolving to serve their changing communities. The
Library Director is also expected to stay current on emerging
technologies and their applications to libraries.
Minimum
Required Qualifications: 1. A Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS)
2. Prior professional experience in a library; Meaningful experience at
a managerial level, preferred.
