Library Director - Thomaston Public Library. The
Board of Trustees is seeking a dedicated and creative professional with
strong leadership skills to manage our library. The
Library Director is responsible for planning, managing, and
overseeing all aspects of the library and its operations. We are looking
for someone who is knowledgeable about public library operations and
committed to continuing to provide a welcoming
environment for every member of the community. The ideal candidate
will be enthusiastic about community involvement and committed to
expanding and adapting services to meet the changing needs of the town.
The person
in this position works with other municipal departments and schools,
community leaders, and local organizations to develop relevant
services. Responsibilities include preparing and managing an operating
budget, supervising staff and coordinating with
Town departments to maintain two connected buildings (1901 and
1971). This position reports a 12 member elected and governing Board of
Trustees.
Thomaston is a historic town located in Litchfield
County and was the home
of the Seth Thomas Clock Company. It has a population of 7800 and an
active arts and cultural environment. The Thomaston Opera House dates
back to 1884 and continues to offer community theatre performances.
Minimum required
qualifications: an MLS or MLIS from an accredited institution, plus 5
years of increasingly responsible experience as a librarian in a public
library, including 3 years of supervisory experience. Salary Range is
$62,000-$67,000 with generous benefits.
