Library Media Specialist - New Fairfield High School. GENERAL DUTIES: Create a school “learning commons” by developing and administering an integrated school library media program. Provide leadership in the design of the school’s new library media center to be an active learning space that meets the diverse needs of students and teachers. Create and maintain an inviting, safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that fosters intellectual inquiry. Develop and maintain an up-to-date, culturally diverse collection of print and non-print resources. Collaborate with teaching staff to create an environment that is conducive to active and participatory learning, and ensures resource-based instructional practices.
     QUALIFICATIONS: 062 School Library Media Specialist CT Certification. Demonstrated expertise with instructional, informational and library management technologies. Demonstrated knowledge of current teaching and learning research, and its application to grade level curriculum. Ability to use available statistics and other data to make program development decisions regarding the library collection and program. Demonstrated knowledge of standards for information and technology literacy, including the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and American Association of School Librarians (AASL) standards.
     POSITION TO START: School Year 2021-22
