Museum Assistant - Gunn Historical Museum. The
national award-winning Gunn Museum, a department of Gunn Memorial
Library, Inc. in Washington, Connecticut, is seeking a talented and
motivated part-time Assistant to provide administrative and curatorial
support to the Curator. The Assistant will be responsible for managing
the successful day-to-day operations of the museum and assist with
cataloging the museum’s collection as needed. Primary responsibilities
include: office administration, membership management, press, marketing,
program registration, newsletter writing and publishing, fundraiser
coordination, scheduling, phone calls, merchandise management, event
assistance, visitor services, volunteer coordination, cataloging and
additional duties as required. Prior museum experience, as well as a
degree in museum studies, history, or related field is preferred. The
applicant must be personable, detail-oriented, have strong
organizational and communication skills, the ability to multitask and
work effectively as a team. Solid computer skills are important,
including, Microsoft Office, WordPress, Google Drive, Constant Contact,
and Past Perfect. $15 per hour, 18 hours per week, Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday, 10am-4pm, and other times as needed.
