General Purpose: Yale University
Library seeks a dynamic and collaborative manager to lead the
Monographic Ordering and Copy Cataloging Unit. The successful candidate
will guide the unit in the overall management of orders and approval
plans. These orders comprise a variety of formats, including e-books.
The person in this role also oversees the receipt and copy cataloging of
diverse material from a variety of international sources; keeps abreast
of trends in technical services, including acquisitions and cataloging,
to enable the local application of innovative developments in the
field; and analyzes trends in publishing and pricing, as well as vendor
technologies and software developments, as they relate to library
resource fund management, budget analysis, and ordering.

Required Education and Experience:
Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program for library and
information science and a minimum of two years of professional
experience and demonstrated professional accomplishments appropriate to
the librarian rank. Experience managing library technical services. Two
or more years of demonstrated supervisory experience, including training
and staff development.
Qualifications: Demonstrated
ability with the use of library management systems. (Yale currently uses
Voyager.) Ability to plan, initiate, and implement effective programs,
projects, and services. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated
ability to solve problems and manage complex workflows. A high level of
numeracy and ability to deal effectively with complex budgets. Ability

of one or more languages other than English. References indicating

Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to a
conclusion in a timely fashion. Demonstrated ability in metadata
analysis and processing tools such as MarcEdit.
