Head of Children’s Services – Woodbridge Town Library. Due
to a retirement, the Woodbridge Town Library is seeking a creative,
flexible and forward-thinking librarian to lead our Children’s Services
Department and serve as a key member of the Library’s management team.
Our ideal candidate will be passionate about providing outstanding
services to children and families, and possess a strong commitment to
warm and welcoming public service.
This position is responsible
for administering all services provided by the Children’s Services
Department. Key responsibilities include: Supervising and mentoring
departmental staff. Overseeing, planning and implementing programming
and services for children and youth. Managing collection development and
maintenance of children’s materials. Engaging in outreach to schools,
daycares, and other community organizations. Delivering reference and
reader’s advisory services to children and families.
Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in Library Science from an
ALA-accredited program and professional experience in a public library
setting with a focus on children’s services are required. Supervisory
experience is preferred. Knowledge of children’s literature, children’s
programming, and child development is essential. Knowledge of current
and emerging technologies is required.
This is a full-time (35
hours per week) position with benefits. Some evenings and Saturdays
required. Salary range from $54,000 to $60,000, depending on
