Branch Librarian - The
Enfield Public Library is seeking a Branch Librarian to run the daily
operations of the historic Pearl St. Branch. Are you passionate about
customer service and want to be involved in all aspects of public
library services? From ordering of material, to cataloging and
circulating it, the Branch Librarian does a bit of it all. The Pearl St.
Branch is an historic Carnegie Library located in the Thompsonville
neighborhood of Enfield. The library served as the town’s central
library when it first opened its doors in 1914 until becoming a branch
in 1967.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Provide outstanding customer service to the residents of Enfield. In
charge the day-to-day operation of the branch; this includes providing
instruction to a part time Library Assistant, and part time Pages.
Management of the Pearl Street materials budget. Collection Development
and Cataloging of all branch materials. Provide Readers Advisory and
Basic Reference Services. Facilitate book discussion group. Collects and
prepares statistical data for Library Director.
Typical hours: 35 hour work week, Monday-Friday.
General qualifications: An MLS is preferred. You must have a
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years’ library experience. You will be
part of a team, so working well with others is critical. It will be
equally important to be motivated and self-directed enough to work
without close supervision.
Salary: $52,033
