Library Technician Part-Time (2 positions) - Lucy Robbins Welles Library, Town of Newington. Essential
Functions: This position will work under the direction of the
Circulation Supervisor, will need to have excellent customer service
skills to support the circulation desk. Between 16 - 19 hours per week
at the public service desk, including evening and weekend hours.
Duties and job requirements include but are not limited to: Ability to
perform all duties associated with the circulation desk, checking out
and discharging of library materials, troubleshooting patron concerns,
registering users, following library policies, collecting fines and
working with money, and making decisions in the absence of supervisors.
Strong customer service skills. Availability to work one evening per
week. Availability to work scheduled weekend shifts on Saturdays in
rotation: 3-7 hours. Comfortable and knowledgeable using computers,
email, and software. Able to bend and move heavy book carts & bins.
Knowledge of Sierra and Encore a plus. Ability to stand for extended
periods of time. Other duties may include processing magazines,
collection development and programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S/B.A from a recognized college or university, library experience
preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft office products, experience
with Sierra or other automated systems a plus. Excellent verbal and
communication skills, customer service skills including follow-up
(preferred customer service experience). Excellent organizational skills
and ability to multi-task.
Pay Range: $23.91 per hour, paid sick time per Connecticut State Statute, no benefits.
