Director of Development - The
Mystic & Noank Library seeks a self-directed, creative,
responsible, and positive team member with a commitment to ensure the
financial well-being of our beloved and highly regarded Mystic &
Noank Library.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week)
fundraising position with high visibility in the Mystic community.
Flexibility is necessary, as workflow and schedule often fluctuates.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director, with oversight
from, and monthly reporting to, the Board of Trustees. This position
supervises the part-time Marketing/PR position.
This individual
will plan, organize, and direct all fundraising activities including,
but not limited to the following: donor relationships, new donor
cultivation, grant applications, the annual fund, direct mail campaigns
and special events.
The best candidate will be guided by the
Library’s strategic financial objectives and development goals to create
and deliver a strategic development plan and be able to demonstrate
knowledge and experience in the following areas: Sustain and cultivate
past donor relationships and funds. Increase new donor relationships and
funds. Grow and manage the Annual Fund, fundraising efforts, planned
giving and endowment programs. Manage coordination of the calendar for
donor communications. Identify grant opportunities, submit proposals and
prepare ongoing grant reports. Organize and attend Library major
events. Oversee and direct public profile of the Library development and
marketing efforts through print, direct mail, and social media.
Maintain donor database software, processing online gifts, Square
reader, security and corporate matching gifts, reconciliation with
Bookkeeper as necessary. Manage Development Expense Budget. Produce and
present development activity reports for monthly Trustee and Staff
meetings. Write Development section of the quarterly Bookends print
newsletter. Remain current on ideas and strategies related to
non-profit/library fundraising. Participate in regional outreach
including (but not limited to) participating in the Stonington
Non-Profits, the Downtown Mystic Merchants, the Greater Mystic Chamber
of Commerce, and other local events in the Groton and Stonington
communities.
Essential Skills: Outstanding, professional
verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to effectively
articulate to a variety of audiences. Reliable, self-motivated team
member with a positive, engaging attitude and commitment to excellent
customer service. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to
comfortably interact with Staff, Trustees, Friends, donors, and
community members. Ability to meet deadlines, multitask and manage
changing priorities, while delivering superior results. Ability to work
flexible hours including evening and weekend hours.
Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience with
preferred experience in multiple fundraising areas such as annual fund,
major gifts, planned giving, events, and identifying and obtaining
grants. Proficient in Microsoft Office and database software with
particular emphasis on maintaining meticulous donor and prospect
records. Experience with social media platforms and web-design
preferred. A familiarity with the greater Groton/Mystic/Stonington area
is desirable.
Salary & Benefits: Salary based on
experience (Range $50,000- $65,000). Vacation, health insurance and
403(b) retirement plan with match component.
