Part-Time Children’s Services Assistant - Brainerd Memorial Library, Haddam. The Brainerd Library is a vibrant and historic community hub in the Connecticut River Valley town of Haddam, CT. We are seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative assistant for our increasingly active Children's Room, with emphasis on programming, music and arts.
     Under the direct supervision of the Head of Youth Services, the ideal candidate will:
     - Assist in the planning, preparation and presentation of children’s programs, with an aptitude for musical story time, large special events (holidays, summer, themes, etc.), arts and crafts, and the development of associated loaned materials. Creativity, originality and a sense of fun are encouraged! Dynamic public service skills and adaptability to a flexible work flow will be assets. The ability to communicate comfortably with parents and caregivers is essential.
     - Serve patrons with basic questions on books and media, library computers, and digital resources. Check out and register patrons at the children’s desk and occasionally at the circulation desk.
     - Shelve, process, and maintain library collections.
     - Coordinate with volunteers under the direction of the Head of Youth Services.
     - Occasionally fill in at Circulation Desk
     - Perform other duties as assigned.
     This position offers 16 hours per week at $14 per hour. Benefits include 6 paid sick days, 10 paid vacation days, two personal days, and SIMPLE IRA enrollment with 2% annual award. Normal schedule: Tuesdays: 10 AM – 2 PM, Thursdays: 10 AM to 2 PM, Fridays 10 AM to 6 PM, and two Saturdays per month from 10 AM to 3 PM.
