Children’s Librarian - The East Hampton Public Library seeks a dynamic,
friendly and forward-thinking children’s librarian who can lead our
growing children’s department. This person will provide reference,
reader’s advisory and technology assistance to the public. Design, plan
and implement educational programming to children under 12. Build
relationships with youth, families and community groups to foster
literacy. Develop and maintain collections for children. Supervise
paraprofessional staff. Communicate effectively with staff and the
public.
The ideal candidate will have an MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited
program plus two years of experience working with children. Knowledge of
children’s literature, best practices in early literacy children’s
programming and child development. Strong communication, technology and
leadership skills. A positive attitude and excellent interpersonal
skills. Ability to problem-solve, multi-task and prioritize. This is a
full- time position, with a liberal benefit package and a starting
hourly rate of $27.68. One evening per week and Saturdays on a rotation
