Reference/Information Services Librarian - New Milford Public Library
Reference/Information Services Librarian (union) - The New Milford Public Library is seeking an individual to lead the Reference/Information Services department in delivering excellent customer service and to develop, promote and conduct related programs for adults. Duties & Responsibilities: Lead a staff of 1.65 FTE in providing exceptional customer service. Schedule a variety of informational and instructional programming for the adult community. Coordinate efforts with other agencies and educational institutions to promote library services to adults. Participate in materials selection, with focus on adult nonfiction and reference. Develop and implement all service policies and procedures. Evaluate the effectiveness of the reference/information services department. Establish annual collection development and weeding plans. Prepare and manage the budget for the department. Attend meetings as required to speak on areas related to professional expertise. Qualifications: Candidates must have an ALA MLS, at least 5 years working in a public library, including supervisory experience. A proven record of providing the highest levels of customer service. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership/management skills. Must be able to work independently and as a member of the management team. Have knowledge of current nonfiction, reference/information service trends. Be willing and capable of actively providing outreach and programming to a variety of groups in the adult community. Knowledge of Windows or other graphical interface applications required. Knowledge of integrated library systems, SirsiDynix preferred. Be extremely comfortable with change and technology. This is a fulltime, supervisory (union, exempt) position and includes evening and weekend hours. Starting salary is $50,795, with excellent benefits.
