Information Manager, Legal - New York. Strong managerial skills, demonstrated customer service orientation, and excellent problem solving abilities are essential for this position in the New York office of one of the world's largest law practices. THE POSITION: Responsible for administration and supervision of day-to-day functioning of the Library, Records Center, and Docket/Managing Clerk Departments. Develop and implement Policies and Procedures for these three units. Directly hire, train, supervise and develop Library staff, and oversee the same for the Records Center and Docket/Managing Clerk Departments. Provide efficient and cost-effective legal reference and research services for attorneys utilizing various legal and business online and print information sources. Develop Library collection to serve attorneys in their respective practice areas, and supervise the processing of all acquisitions. Communicate with vendors and publishers. Prepare and distribute quarterly library reports. Conduct library orientations and provide training to all incoming attorneys. Represent the firm at library association meetings and conferences. REQUIREMENTS: MLS plus 5-8 years library and information science managerial experience in a large law firm. Able to supervise in a way that promotes team spirit and collaboration among staff. Able to present information clearly, concisely, and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Computer experience and knowledge required includes but is not limited to: MS Word and Excel, Internet, Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis, Legal Key (or equivalent records software), DM2000 (or equivalent docket software), CMS Open (or equivalent accounting software).
