Librarian - Gateway Community College

Librarian - (CCP-18), full-time, 12-month, tenure track. ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: September 2006. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Library Science together with from one to four years of related experience including up to two years of experience in leading or supervising others; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:: Four years experience in academic libraries; demonstrated abilities in teaching and assessment of learning objectives; commitment to ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards; background in smart classroom/multimedia design and web based instruction; information technology skills including mastery of Microsoft Office and instructional design software; familiarity with library integrated systems, specifically Endeavor Voyager; knowledge of website design techniques; strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities; strong commitment to public service and experience in working with a diverse clientele. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Librarian in this position will provide innovative leadership in the design, development, delivery and assessment of information literacy instruction across the curriculum using a variety of tools, techniques and instructional materials and will maintain statistics on these activities. The successful candidate will plan, develop and implement informational workshops and form close collaborative ties with faculty and the WebCT Vista team. Related duties will include complex reference service, collection development and maintenance, training and mentoring of part time staff members, supervision of student workers, and assistance with all combined service desk functions. This position includes responsibilities on both the Long Wharf and North Haven campuses and may involve evening and/or weekend attendance. In addition to departmental duties, the Librarian will be expected to serve on committees and task forces and engage in professional development activities. STARTING SALARY: $51,300 approximate annual, plus excellent State supported fringe benefits.
