Systems Librarian - Mansfield Library.
The Town of Mansfield, Connecticut is seeking applicants for our
part-time Systems Librarian position. Under the direction of the Public
Library and Information Technology Department Heads, this position
serves as the first line of support for the use of electronic resources
and library technologies. The Systems Librarian provides leadership and
expertise in the development, implementation, maintenance, and use of
technology by library staff and the public. Sample duties include: Lead
staff member for managing library information technology as currently
deployed or planned at the Library, including primary responsibility for
the library’s implementation of its integrated library system. Assist
in the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of a
comprehensive information technology framework. Coordinate and
collaborate with Town Information Technology staff to ensure that the
library’s network is maintained and enhanced as an integral part of the
Town IT infrastructure. Deploy and maintain hardware and software
specific to the library. Provide first-tier troubleshooting for library
equipment. Configure, deploy and maintain PCs, printers and other
hardware. Manage web-based services and electronic resources.
Maintaining the library’s website and social media. Working
collaboratively with the Library/Information Technology Directors,
develop technology plans and budgets. Plan, manage, and oversee complex
projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize work in alignment with
town/library service goals. Provide excellent customer service. Train
staff and patrons in the use of computer hardware and software. Work
effectively as part of a team. Master new technologies. Provide guidance
to staff on issues relating to the use of library technology. Attend
staff meetings and workshops, as requested. Participate in the
development of the Library’s collection. Provide public desk support as
needed. Perform all other reasonably related tasks as directed. Position
is 19 hrs/wk. Hiring rate is $29.58-$38.45 per hour and is dependent
upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. The ideal
candidate will have a master’s degree in library science or a related
field supplemented by experience with developing, implementing, and
maintaining library technologies. Formal course work in computer science
and public library experience is highly desirable. The selected
