Library Assistant - Richmond Memorial Library, Marlborough

Hours:11-17 hours a week, including every Thursday from 3-8pm, Friday from 12pm-6pm, and one Saturday in a four week rotation 
Starting Salary: $18/hour

The Richmond Memorial Library in Marlborough is seeking a part time Library Assistant for approximately 11-17 hours a week, including every Thursday from 3-8pm, Friday from 12pm-6pm, and one Saturday in a four week rotation. If the applicant is interested and available, there may be the option to pick up additional hours based on coverage needs and projects taken on. A Bachelor’s degree and customer service background are required, and the ideal candidate will have familiarity with an ILS, preferably the Polaris software system. Some of the general job responsibilities include: checking library materials in and out, placing holds for patrons, pulling hold requests, processing new materials, answering ready reference questions, helping patrons with very basic computer issues, and re-shelving library materials, in addition to any number of additional simple tasks. Additional off-desk responsibilities assigned specifically to this Library Assistant include helping the Youth Services Librarian design and put up creative and engaging bulletin board and slat wall board displays, creating take and make kits for children and adults, assisting the Youth Services Librarian with programming, and this person will be asked to attend some outreach events alongside other staff including an annual Trunk or Treat event at the local elementary school.
