Part-Time Children's Library Assistant - Darien Library

Darien Library seeks a friendly, curious, and energetic candidate to work in the Children’s Library. The successful candidate has experience working with children, families, and caregivers, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide homework help and readers’ advisory. Candidates should also have the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, friendly environment and embrace Darien Library’s “Kindness First” motto in both external and internal service.

Reporting to the Head of Children’s Services, the Children’s Library Assistant may also conduct programming for children, including storytimes and school-age programs.

Schedule: The candidate will work an average of 3 to 6 hours per week, including one weekday, plus two weekends per month. This position also includes holiday coverage on a rotating basis, plus additional shifts as needed, not to exceed 29 hours per week. This schedule is for planning purposes only. Actual hours may vary and are subject to modification due to staffing needs, programming, or other operational demands of the Library.

Salary: $22-$29.50 an hour, commensurate with experience and CLA minimum requirements. This is a part-time position with no benefits.
