Library Aide I - Town of Canton

Multiple positions available. The Town of Canton is seeking creative, enthusiastic, customer-service-oriented self-starters to join the staff of the Canton Public Library as a part-time Library Aide I. Positions are currently available in our Circulation and Children’s departments. Responsibilities of the position include: staffing public service desks; checking materials in and out; answering and routing phone calls; providing basic reference and readers’ advisory services in person and over the phone; creating signs, flyers, and displays; processing library materials; and other routine library and office tasks as assigned.

Qualified applicants must have excellent customer service and communication skills and be welcoming, courteous, and friendly to patrons of all ages. A high school diploma and experience working in a customer-facing environment are required. Bachelor’s degree and work experience in a library or early childhood education environment preferred. Strong computer and technology skills are essential. MLS candidates are encouraged to apply.

Hours per position vary but will generally be between 8-19 hours per week, year-round. Hours will vary but applicants MUST be available for evening shifts and Saturday shifts in rotation. $20.91/hour, no benefits.
