Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly, proactive customer service assisting patrons with reference and information requests, selecting library materials, using computers, printers, scanners, photocopiers, and other library technology, and accessing digital resources, databases, eBooks, and downloadable materials.
- Manage and update content for the Library's website and app.
- Develop and present technology-focused programs and classes for patrons of all ages.
- Collaborate with staff on program delivery and community engagement initiatives.
- Conduct individualized technology appointments, offering patient, hands-on guidance to help patrons successfully navigate devices, applications, and online services.
- Perform supervisory duties, including opening/closing procedures and handling patron concerns, building issues, and emergencies when administrative staff are unavailable.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Proficiency using, teaching, and troubleshooting technology, including library databases, eBook platforms, Microsoft and Google applications, collaboration tools, and basic web design; experience with Wix preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with patrons, coworkers, and supervisors, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and contribute to a collaborative work environment. Ability to exercise sound judgment, adapt to changing needs, and embrace feedback.
Customer Service & Communication: Excellent customer service skills, including patience, active listening, and effective problem-solving. Enthusiasm for serving and engaging with patrons of all ages, including children, adults, and seniors. Public speaking in front of large crowds is a MUST. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA)- accredited institution required. Minimum of 1-2 years of professional library experience, including supervisory experience. Knowledge of Sierra ILS and LION Consortium standards preferred. Must be able to regularly lift and move 10-25 pounds and push carts weighing more than 30 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is an 18hr/week, part-time position, three shifts per week, with Saturdays in rotation. Benefits include sick time only.
Hourly Rate: $26-29 per hour depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
