Youth Services Librarian - Lyme Public Library

The Lyme Public Library currently has an opening for a full-time (30 hours a week) position for a youth services librarian (infant to teens). The position includes an excellent benefits package and an hourly rate of $22.10 within the current fiscal year. The library is in the beautiful town of Lyme, Connecticut and we are seeking a candidate who has experience of working with children at a professional level. Individuals who might have or be interested in obtaining their MLS degree are preferred but this is not a required detail. If you are interested in planning and implementing special weekly programs for children, spearheading our summer reading program, knowledgeable in children’s literature, love libraries and working alongside some wonderful fellow library staff and you thrive on bringing joy, empathy and support to children and their caregivers we encourage you to apply. Other job duties include but are not limited to, the children’s library’s collection development, weeding, inventory and cataloging of materials, knowledge of current library standards, general circulation duties, advertising children’s events in print and online, website development, database management, preparation of the children’s department statistics and monitoring children’s library expenditures. A knowledge of working with Sierra and the LION consortium is preferred but Lyme library staff are willing to train a recruit as needed. You must be able to work one Saturday per month, be of legal age to work in Connecticut and be able to lift 20 pounds.
