Ivoryton Library Association is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and creative professional who loves to work with the public and connect to the community.
This position is 35 hours/week within Library operating hours (M, W 9-8; Tu, Th, F 9-5; Sat 9-12) and offers an hourly wage of $18.00-$22.53 per hour, commensurate with experience. This position does not include health benefits.
Duties include:
- develop and execute programming for children, tweens, and teens;
- perform outreach with community organizations and local schools;
- provide reference and reader’s advisory services to all ages;
- assist patrons with technology;
- collection development duties including purchasing, weeding, and upkeep of assigned collection, including print, non-print and electronic resources;
- assist at the circulation desk as needed;
- work independently as well as part of a team;
- some evening and weekend hours are required
Required skillset:
- Proficient in technology use and application. Prior experience with Little Green Light, Excel, Google Workspace and Sierra is a plus.
- Must have strong communication skills (written and oral), people skills and organizational abilities.
- Must understand the principles of group dynamics to facilitate programs and engage with young adults.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and use initiative.
- Ability to initiate, organize, and follow through on programs and services tailored to the needs and interests of youth.
- Must be able to bend and lift 20 pounds and be able to ascend/descend stairs.
- Employment is contingent on a successful background check.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school. Students currently enrolled in an MLS program will also be considered.
The Ivoryton Library functions as a private, non-profit association serving the greater community. As a small library full of history, the organization has provided library services in Ivoryton since 1871.
