Thomaston Public Library is looking for part-time assistance at our combined circulation/information desks. Duties include: registering patrons, circulating materials, placing and processing holds, assisting patrons with their inquiries and their use of computers and office equipment, shelving of materials, and, of course, (say it with me!) other duties as assigned. May work at either the children’s or adult desk, depending upon what is going on at the library that evening.
Requirements: Strong communication skills, office-type computer skills, a commitment to an equitable and inclusive approach to public service. High School diploma/GED preferred. The successful applicant will need to pass a background check run by the Town of Thomaston.
Hours and Compensation: $16.35 hour now; $16.94 on Jan. 1, 2026. Shifts needing coverage are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5-8 pm.
Please apply by filling out a Town of Thomaston application and sending it to Amy Schumann, aschumann@biblio.org, with the subject “Part-time Clerk.” If you can notice the typo on the application, that's a skill we value at the library! Also feel free to also send a resume if you would like us to see your work history and skills in the beautifully-crafted format you’ve already created, but the town application is required. Review of applications will begin November 30.
