The Thomaston Public Library is looking for part-time assistance at our combined circulation/information desks. Duties include: registering patrons, circulating materials, placing and processing holds, assisting patrons with their inquiries and their use of computers and office equipment, shelving of materials, and, of course, (say it with me!) other duties as assigned. May work at either the children’s or adult desk, depending upon what is going on at the library that day.
Requirements: Strong communication skills, office-type computer skills, a commitment to an equitable and inclusive approach to public service. High School diploma/GED preferred. The successful applicant will need to pass a background check run by the Town of Thomaston.Hours and Compensation: $16.35 hour. Main shifts needing coverage are Thursdays from 5-8 pm, and Saturdays in mid-September-June from 10 am-3 pm (Closed Saturdays in July & August). Other hours may become available based on staffing needs. While we are looking for someone to cover most Saturdays, we understand that you will have some conflicts and need some of them off. We are hoping to have someone start some weekday shifts (Thursdays and some extra hours for more training with different staff) mid-August.
Please apply by filling out a Town of Thomaston application and sending it to Amy Schumann, aschumann@biblio.org, with the subject “Part-time Clerk.” Also feel free to also send a resume if you would like us to see your work history and skills in the beautifully-crafted format you’ve already created, but the town application is required. Review of applications will start July 31.
